Halls of Excellence
The Halls of Excellence program was initiated in 1999 to recognize graduates of Bellevue (Ohio) High School who have distinguished themselves and made the world a better place for others. The achievements of these honorees represent the true and eternal legacy of the Bellevue education. They represent their families, friends, and teachers – all who played an integral role in their development.
Those recognized in the Halls of Excellence have demonstrated success in numerous endeavors –philanthropy, business, medicine, science, community service, leadership, and education – to name a few of the recognized fields. Many of these recipients have had a significant impact on the world we live in today. They chose to lead so that others may follow.
It is our sincere hope that the current and future students of Bellevue High School aspire to someday be recognized in such a noble fashion. If they do, then this program of recognition will prove invaluable to furthering the fundamental purpose of the educational process.

Class of 2023
Gerald and Gail (Zeigler) Foos, Class of 1958. Gerry graduated from Heidelberg University with a degree in Business and went on to Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science joining the family business Foos & Son Funeral Home with his father, Ralph in 1963. Married his high school sweetheart Gail Zeigler, and together they grew the business now serving the Bellevue-Clyde communities for 4 generations. They have been involved in many community and civic organizations to make Bellevue a better place. Gerry co-chaired the Rotary Commons Senior Housing Project, BAF Stadium Project, and together they chaired the United in Spirit-Renewed in Purpose capital campaign at Immaculate Conception Church. Gail was involved in The Bellevue Hospital Auxiliary, Immaculate Conception Church Altar Rosary Society, and The Grey Ladies. They are hometown proud and generous supporters of many different programs and projects in the Bellevue community.
Kenneth Rospert, Class of 1969. United States Army Veteran, retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and the Bellevue Fire Department. He played an instrumental part in building the Veterans Memorial in Bellevue. Founder of The Wounded Soldiers Fund to help active duty service members of Northern Ohio. Helped Bellevue become designated as a Purple Heart City. Member of the Firelands Federal Credit Union Board of Directors since 1997 and served as President for over 15 years.
Dr. Douglas Hoy, M.D., Class of 1983. Attended Ohio State University followed by med school at Wright State University. Completed his residency at Barberton Citizens Hospital and came back to Bellevue to establish his practice. He opened his practice, Buckeye Medical November 17, 1997. Dr. Hoy is a member of The Bellevue Hospital board and chair of the credentialing committee. Being very community minded, he founded the Youth Football program; volunteers to administer free sports physicals for middle and high school athletes.
Brent Zimmerman, Class of 1996. Graduated from Miami University in 2000 with a degree in Finance. Earned is Master of Business Administration from Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western University. His expertise managed portfolios in excess of hundreds of billions of dollars. A real estate developer, he founded the Brent Zimmerman Development, Saucy Brew Works, Sleep Over Management and Managing Member/Owner of The Washington Hotel, Sandusky, Ohio.
Class of 2020
Jacquelyn (Tom) Clark, class of 1963. Graduate of Bowling Green State University and University of Cincinnati. Her specialty is the development of education for special needs children. Public school educator for 25 years. Founded “News-2-You” to assist special education classrooms around the world.
Duffield Milkie, class of 1983, Law School graduate of University of Toledo, served as prosecutor and law director of Sandusky. Currently, Cedar Fair Executive Vice President, General Counsel.
Richard “Dick” Bell (deceased), class of 1946, owner of Seneca Caverns, founding member of National Cave Association, President of Ohio Travel Association, Knighted by Edinburgh, Scotland for his genealogy research.
Robert D. Regula (deceased). Received a B.S. and M.Ed. From Ohio University. Was Asst. Dean of Men at Ohio University, and principal at Bellevue High School from 1959-1977. He was also executive director of the Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce and a trustee of The Bellevue Hospital.
Class of 2018
Dr. Edward Lepley, (deceased) Class of 1956: Dr. Lepley served in the U.S. Army, and 1965 graduate of The Ohio State University of Veterinary Medicine with a specialty degree in Veterinary Dentistry. Practiced veterinary medicine in Denmark and Europe. Established a poultry research facility for Spanish government. Helped to eradicate outbreak of Brucellosis Abortus in Alberta, Canada. Established several animal hospitals in Michigan for over 33 years. Very passionate in mentoring students in veterinary medicine and those seeking guidance.
Cdr. Lloyd Adams, Classof 1954: Commander Adams, 1959 graduate of U.S. Naval Academy earning his BS in Mechanical Engineering and commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. The beginning of a 30 year career. Awarded the Bronze Star medal for his service as the Naval Gunfire Support Officer for the 3rd Marine Division in South Vietnam. Cdr. Adams was the Executive Officer of the USS Rogers (DD 678) and Commanding Officer of the USS Barry (DD933). After retirement spent 7 years as Systems Engineer supporting the Navy’s efforts to develop new ships and weapon systems. He also served as Court Magistrate for King George County.
Joseph Dysard, II, Class of 1968: Mr. Dysard spent 47 years in the water and wastewater industry. He earned Regional Vice-President with General Waterworks Corporation where he was responsible for fourteen companies. He spent 22 years with R.W. Beck, INc. consulting firm. He was Program Manager or Sr. Project Manger for one of the largest Reverse Osmosis Treatment Plants in the United States. He was very active in the water and wastewater industry associations.

Dr. Jack (John) Heter (deceased), Class of 1947: Dr. Heter is being honored for many years in the field of Education. His career began as a high school teacher and principal and concluded as the Chairman, Department of Education at Baldwin-Wallace University.
Dr. Robert Baldwin, Class of 1954: Dr. Baldwin is recognized for his efforts as one of the leading physicians in the country in the treatment of allergies and allergic responses. He is a pioneer in the development of medications to treat allergies.
Jude SanGregory, Class of 1980: Mr. SanGregory is currently a Production Design Engineer for the Kodak Company where he holds over 40 patents in the field of photographic technology. One of his many credits includes the introduction of the disposable camera.
Class of 2015
Edward Monarchi, Class of 1952-- enjoyed a long career in the petroleum industry. His initial assignment sent him to Venezuela where he worked for a subsidiary of Exxon Corporation. He began his career as a field drilling engineer and quickly moved up the ladder in various supervisory roles. His assignments often involved relocation – not only throughout Venezuela but Bogota, Colombia as well. Career highlights include being named The General Manager for Exxon in Venezuela and General Manager of the Amuay Refinery – the largest in the world at that time.
LTC Michael T. Hosang, Class of 1985--has combined military service with a multifaceted law degree. He has served as both prosecutor and defense counsel in a variety of military venues as well as work with the U.S. Attorney’s office. Even in civilian life Mike continued to work with military personnel. Re-activated in 2010 Mike was sent to Afghanistan where he worked with war detainees. He was transferred to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where he prosecuted high profile military detainees.
Kim Schubert, Class of 1988--began her teaching career In Wapakoneta, Ohio. In 1993 she moved back to Bellevue and worked for the Erie County Board. In 1997 she took a position with the Huron County Educational Service Center. In 1999 she became the Principal at Shumaker School and served in that role for ten years. Kim was named the Superintendent of the Bellevue City School District in 2009. As Superintendent she oversaw a $39 million capital improvement campaign resulting in new elementary and middle school buildings.
Class of 2014
Amos E. Northup, Class of 1908, created a trendsetting legacy among the automobiles he designed. Beginning with the Wills Saint Claire (1924-27), the 1930 Willys Plaidside roadster and Wharton, the 1931 REO Royale line, the 1932 Graham Blue Streak, the 1933 Willys and the 77 and 99, and other Willys through 1938 as well as the 1938 Sharknose Graham. He definitely set the standard in the auto industry. Northup had a talent for bringing a car or a new concept to public attention. He authored many articles about streamlining cars along with style verses beauty. A true Innovator.
Walter Horn, Jr., Class of 1940, was a leader in farming and the agriculture industy. He was a life long member of the 4-H gainng the most tenure in the State of Ohio. Walter spent over 68 years working qand volunteering with the 4-H. He also received numerous awards throughout his life earning Ohio 4-H Hall of Fame honors in 1998.
Ronald J. Rundt, Class of 1959, has had extensive and successful career in the international and domestic petroleum industry. He has held several titles including Chief Drilling and Production Engineer in Stavanger, Norway; and Vice President Operations in Sana, Republic of Yemen; and Vice President International Operations in Houston, Texas. While working for Amoco International Oil Company, Phillips Petroleum, Hunt Oil and Anadarko Petroleum he traveled extensively throughout North and South America, the West Indies, Africa, the Middle East and Far East as well as Australia. During his career he and his family lived in 11 cities in the USA and abroad in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad; London, England; Stavanger, Norway; Aberdeen, Scotland; and Sana'a, Republic of Yemen. He has traveled to 73 countries. He and his wife now live in their 31st home after 50 years of marriage.
Jeff Moyer, Class of 1972, received at West Point appointment as a student of Bellevue Sr. High School. Jeff's military career of 10 years took him to Germany and Czeckoslovkia where he served at a Lieutenant with a surface to air missle unit as a platoon leader and battery executive officer. He also served along the DMZ zone in Korea for over 28 months. Jeff has accumulated over 100 military parachute jumps and holds the highest rating possible of a master parachutist. Jeff Moyer currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He currently is a practicing attorney in Michigan working with the Bankruptcy Group Law Firm
Class of 2013
LaMarr Beatty Class of 1952 - Member of NASA assisted training the first seven astronauts; involved with Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab, Apollo-Soyuz, Space Station and Shuttle missions.
Sam Gerhardstein Class of 1974 - Successfully lobbied for the enactment of HB95 and SB225 which changed natural gas and reduced utility property tax assessments. Member of Ohio Chamber of Commerce, Public Affairs and Tax Committees.
Arthur F. Gorham (Deceased) Class of 1932 - Two time recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross; led para-troopers in “Operation Husky) to liberate Sicily; first Bellevue High School graduate to graduate from West Point.
William Roberts Class of 1957 - International and Corporate Business Law Consultant, delegate with U.S. Representatives to government officials of the Peo-ples’ Republic of China; Professional Sports Agent.

Richard Raish, BHS Class of 1935 - deceased, distinguished banking career, lifetime of community leadership and service
Janet (Strommer) St. Lawrence, BHS Class of 1959 - Professor of Psychology, researcher and author of behavioral intervention and disease control. Joins her sister Judy Strommer who was inducted into the Halls of Excellence in 2000
Jane Seaman, BSHS Class of 1968 - Julliard trained actress, singer, film and television performer, and college vocal instructor
Rebecca Stevens, BSHS Class of 1974 - registered architect, architectural and engineering design. Instructor of historical preservation.
